Shatae’ DeVaughn – Data & Evaluation Associate

Shatae’ is from the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, and currently calls Larimer home. She loves analyzing data and wanted to study math in school – but she also loves helping people. Working at Center of Life as their first Data & Evaluation Associate allows her to do both.

Previously, she was a sexual assault medical advocate with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) and worked in human services for Auberle in McKeesport (which handles foster care, homeless youth, career development, among other things). She also worked for the Pittsburgh Housing Authority (HACP).

She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she pursued a Bachelors in Sociology & Administration of Justice, with a minor in Africana Studies. She also received certificates in Communications, Social Movements and Helping Professions. Some of her research at Pitt focused on stress and health, and racially disparate arrests. She would someday like to work on prison reform policy.

“What I like about Center of Life is that they aren’t trying to save people; they are trying to teach people how to make decisions to improve their lives, and aren’t trying to impose their own goals on them.”
